Pre-Med at Northwestern Hi guys, I’m a senior in high school who was waitlisted at McCormick for BME. I don't think being pre-med at NU is all that terrible, but the curves can be tough and there's a lot of competition. One good thing is that I found Northwestern undergrad harder than medical school (at least so far), so if you get through it and get into medical school ... you are golden. Maybe the 171 sequence makes more sense?

My nephew is a freshman at NU and his roommate is "premed" taking organic chemistry his freshman year. Please don't let everyone else talk you out of it and you'll be fine--NU is great preparation for med school. I was a psych major so psychstudent feel free to pm me. I thought orgo doesn't have lab until 3rd quarter? gosh i hate how once you get into the process to med school a part of you that is spontaneous and free spirited just dies. Another thing that kind of bothers me about NU is that, while it's a top school, it definitely doesn't enjoy the reputation that the Ivies do. if he/she takes physics and bio soph year, then he/she will be able to take the mcat that august (of soph year). Several Northwestern University students take organic chemistry at Harvard during the summer.
